Confidence to Care is the essential handbook for the family caregiver offering practical insights to understanding, managing and preventing the behavioral symptoms associated with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Touching, personal stories come together with practical and easy-to-access tips and techniques drawn from decades of caregiving experience by internationally-recognized experts. This cutting-edge resource will help the family caregiver confidently deal with the most common issues associated with dementia. In addition, advice about how to care for yourself while caring for others is essential.

By 2060, over 98 million Americans will be 65 years of age and older. As the population ages, there is a need to ensure sufficient resources are available to accommodate potential physical and cognitive limitations. The home care workforce is important in supporting older adults, and retaining the workforce is crucial to provide needed care.

The purpose of this study was to understand factors influencing turnover within the non-medical home care industry.

In April, 2019, the Alzheimer’s Association Dementia Care Provider Roundtable convened to discuss
common challenges faced when implementing person-centered, non-pharmacological practices in
long-term care and other settings that provide care and programs for persons living with dementia,
and to develop relevant, specific guidance from the perspective of administrative leaders from 23 longterm
and community-based care provider organizations (representing home, community-based, and
residential care).

Alzheimer's is a growing concern globally, with cases projected to double every 20 years. Molly Carpenter has developed a book and a mobile app, "Confidence to Care," to support family caregivers. The resource offers practical advice on managing over 20 behavioral symptoms, including personal stories, explanations of causes, care approaches, conversation starters, and prevention tips. The book also emphasizes understanding triggers for behavioral reactions and includes a section on self-care for caregivers. The goal is to equip caregivers with the necessary tools to care for their loved ones with dementia at home confidently.
